The Team

Simon Halliday established Raisin Social in 1986. As our company name suggests our original focus was the import of French wines, Burgundy and Beaujolais in particular.

In 1990 we took a gamble and imported the first container of South African Wine. Nelson Mandela had just been released from prison, the first of a chain of events that would lead to the end of the system of Apartheid, and, in 1994 to the country's first free, universal, democratic elections.

The gamble paid off. Raisin Social is now well established as one of the leading importers of wine from the Cape. Our suppliers range from some of the most celebrated and sought after private estates, to the biggest and most forward thinking wineries.

Nor have we forgotten where it all started. We continue to represent top quality producers from areas of France such as Burgundy, Bordeaux, the Languedoc and the Rhone and further afield to Argentina, Australia, Spain, Portugal and New Zealand,

Although these wines differ widely in style and price, there is one consistent theme running through the whole range; success is based on an obsession with quality, always offering consistently well made wines which represent tremendous value for money

As more and more good wine from a wider range of producing countries than ever before enters our market, we at Raisin Social will continue to focus on the consumer, working in partnership with our suppliers to develop the right ranges of high quality wines, both from world class estate wines, to well made every-day drinking wines.

The array of wines in many retail stores can seem confusing at the very least. So we also work closely with our wine producers to develop successful new brands, backed up by solid market research and properly supported by well-positioned marketing spend. Our successes include Beyerskloof, Goiya, Leopards Leap and Namaqua, making us one of the leading wine brand owners in our sector.

You will find our wines in all parts of the UK market, as we have excellent links and relationships throughtout the wine trade - from the major supermarket shelves, to department stores, wine specialist shops, independents and restaurants.
